Breast cancer impact in EU countries (WP2)
The WP2 working group has produced a comprehensive report on the impact of breast cancer in Europe. This report shows the epidemiological indicators such as incidence, mortality and prevalence overall and for each country using data from the European Cancer Registries participating in the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents (XII edition, IARC) and from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 database. Furthermore, this document outlines the differences between European regions and states, supplemented by an analysis of demographic factors related to fertility. You can check it out on the ELISAH website.

Greece breast cancer registry (WP3)
During the last meeting in Athens, data on the first three years of operation of the Athens Cancer Registry were presented. Currently, information is available on 4,287 living women registered between 2014 and 2016, and mortality data are available for the period 2014-2019. Based on the experience gained, the purpose of this registry is to collect the largest volume of data from one of the main public hospitals, Attikon Hospital, as well as from Metaxas Hospital, which specializes in cancer care.

Lifestyle change intervention (WP4)
Everything is almost ready to launch the intervention project to test whether the use of a mobile application can help facilitate a change in behavior towards a healthier lifestyle to reduce exposure to breast cancer risk factors. The web application has been designed, and the recruitment phase has officially started in Italy through the minimum advice of women who present themselves in radiology at the IRCCS National Cancer Incidence in Milan. Check the website for more details.

Action to reduce health inequalities (WP5)
According to the World Inequality Report 2022 there is a lack of basic information about inequality. Through analytical research, WP5 works to improve the capacity of project partner organizations to define the reasons for health inequalities in breast cancer. With breast cancer data from 1,158 people from Ivano-Frankivsk city (Ukraine) potential disparities in healthcare access or late-stage diagnoses has been identified.

Urban environment and breast cancer risk (WP6)
The aim of WP6 of the ELISAH project is to study the urban environment as a conditioning factor for the development and progression of breast cancer in a sample of ten European cities and towns, also by neighbourhood, to suggest local action for improvement dialogue with Municipalities, citizen and patient associations. As a deliverable document the first results of this WP relevant aspects were identified: a) an interesting statistically significant association between NO2, main road density and green spaces (forests, parks and woods); b) four cities showing high concentrations of PM2.5, NO2 and low percentages of green spaces, susceptible for urban interventions.
